One Rug, Different Rooms

A rug does more to finish a room than almost anything else you can buy, and a handwoven one does it while looking like nothing else on the market — because nothing else is quite the same piece.

Choose a living-room scale for the room that gets used most

What to consider before buying

• Measure the space first — handwoven pieces come in the sizes they come in, not made to order
• A runner needs at least 10-15cm of floor visible on either side to look intentional
• Kilims are flatweave, not pile, so they sit low and work well under furniture legs

A printed rug can be replaced. A handwoven one can't — which is exactly why it's worth having at least one in the house.
